bk plus acquires Solihull-based Sephton Accountants

Sephton Accountants, an independently run practice based in Marston Green, Solihull, has been acquired by bk plus, adding an established and distinctively positioned firm to the group’s West Midlands network. The deal marks the second acquisition for bk plus in the space of a week, capping a busy period of growth for the firm.

The practice covers accountancy, corporate and personal tax, VAT, bookkeeping, audit and payroll, and has built its reputation on the quality and consistency of its team rather than on size or scale.

Led by Partners Steve Connell and Darren Carter, Sephton has grown steadily over the years, retaining staff and clients in equal measure. The team will continue to operate from their Solihull base following the acquisition, with existing client relationships maintained and access extended to the wider specialist services available across bk plus.

The acquisition further consolidates bk plus’s presence in the West Midlands, where the firm has been building its regional footprint as part of its broader national growth programme.

Shaun Knight, CEO of bk plus, said

“Sephton is a firm that has worked out what it wants to be and then consistently delivered it. That is harder than it sounds, and the result is a practice with real loyalty from its clients and its people.

What attracted us was the consistency. A stable, experienced team, a clear service model and a track record of steady, sustainable growth. Those are the things that tell you a firm is well run. The West Midlands is an important market for bk plus, and Sephton gives us a high quality, well-regarded home in Solihull.”

Steve Connell, Partner of Sephton Accountants, said

“We have always been clear about what kind of firm we want to be, personal, responsive and genuinely useful to the businesses we work with. That has not changed, and it will not change.

The reason joining bk plus made sense is that it does not ask us to be something different. What it offers is access to a wider pool of expertise that we can bring to clients when they need it. For businesses that are growing, that matters. Tax gets more complex, corporate structures need advice, succession planning comes into the picture. We can now handle more of that ourselves rather than referring it elsewhere. Sephton stays Sephton. We have just got more to offer.”

bk plus continues to grow its national presence, with more than 62 offices and over 1,000 people across the UK, supporting SMEs and owner-managed businesses with advice that stays close to them.
